CIM’s Latest Dirty Trick

Tammie Belton, well known for contributing to treasured teacher Michael Sachs leaving CIM and going back on her word not to slash benefits, recently sent out an email claiming the school was offering a resource outside of the CIM leadership team to help faculty make an informed decision about voting for the union. Of course, the email was worded to make it sound as if the consultant, Marcus Jordan, was a neutral or even supportive resource, and encouraged faculty members to meet with him individually.

Here’s the truth:

Marcus Jordan’s company, MAJ Consulting Services LLC, was hired by Steven Nichols earlier this year to assist Mercedes Benz in persuading workers regarding unionizing with United Auto Workers. Who is Steven Nichols? He’s a corporate lawyer for Mercedes Benz and member of the Business Council of Alabama, one of the main opponents of unionization in this case.

Guess what. He’s done it elsewhere too. Ask Marcus about what he did with IAM 947 and PPG Industries in 2022.

Does that sound like someone who’s here to be a neutral resource to you? The truth is plain to see. This is another attempt to dissuade unionization, and it’s being done in a dishonest and misleading fashion.

We have some questions

Tammie Belton, why are you misrepresenting Marcus’ bias?

Paul Hogle, in a time when CIM is in a financial disaster, how much did you spend to hire MAJ Consulting Services?
